What does company bike benefit mean? Is it worth getting a company bike?

A company bike is a bicycle intended for the employee’s personal use. In addition to commuting, you can ride the bike in your spare time without restrictions.
The company bike benefit is a benefit offered by the employer voluntarily. So, check with your employer if you have this benefit.
The company bike benefit is a tax-exempt fringe benefit for the employee up to EUR 1,200 per year. The company bike benefit can be offered on top of the salary or it can be withheld from the salary. Most employers deduct the value of the bike benefit (usually EUR 100/month) from the employee’s gross salary, i.e. using the bike benefit reduces the taxable income by the value of the bike benefit every month. As the taxable income decreases, the tax rate also decreases, so the share paid by the employee is significantly lower than the amount deducted from the gross salary on a monthly basis. Thus, depending on their salary, the employee gets savings of an average of 20–30% compared to getting the same bike without the company bike benefit.
Your employer is responsible for the purchase of the bike, most often by way of a leasing agreement. After the lease period, the bike can usually be redeemed. The employee pays the jointly defined monthly portion, which depends on the price of the bike, among other factors.
Once practical matters have been agreed upon with the employer, you can choose a bike that suits you. The company bike benefit covers all types of bikes, you can choose an e-bike or a traditional bicycle from city bikes to mountain bikes.
